Silk floral arrangements are composed of materials that are mainly not organic. This means that silk floral arrangements are not an allergen to people with pollen allergies. Often silk floral arrangements are marketed as hypoallergenic because they have no pollen. However, many types of silk flower petals are made from synthetics such as polyester, while others come from natural sources such as silk from silk worms and cotton from cotton plants.  These may be coated in natural latex to create a more realistic look and feel to the silk flower arrangement.  So, if you are allergic to latex or concerned about latex allergies, you will want to double check that the silk floral arrangements you choose do not contain latex.  The floral industry does not have any regulation that causes manufacturers to label latex dipped silk floral arrangements.
